Support A Family Whose Car Was Stolen

During this Holy Week, as we reflect on the incredible sacrifice that Jesus made for us, let’s be inspired by His sacrifice and compassion. Let’s look beyond our own needs and reach out to those in our community who may be going through a hard time, such as one of the families who are currently staying at Margaret’s House, our hospitality home for families in transition.

Last month, their van was stolen from the street right in front of Margaret’s House. For the family, getting their car stolen was a big setback and they felt a loss of security. They viewed their van not only as a mode of transportation to get to places, like the kids’ schools, but considered it as their home before coming to Margaret’s House.

Thankfully, the family’s van was eventually found by the police and returned to them. However, it came back in poor condition. Although still operable, the door handles were jammed, the windows were broken, the brake lights were smashed, and the inside was trashed. The biggest upset for the family, though, was not getting back the things that held immense value to them that they had left in the van at the time it was stolen.

Although the family is happy to have their van back, the issues they have with it now are difficult for them to fix on their own. As a result, this unfortunate event presents an opportunity for us as a community to show the love of Jesus to them.

You can show your support by:

  1. Praying for the family

  2. Giving financially to help with the cost of repairs that the family’s insurance and our flex funds unfortunately cannot fully cover. You can give here.

  3. Refer us to a trusted mechanic. Email admin@kcbellflower.org with your referrals.

  4. Donate some items that were stolen from the car and call our office at 562-804-2189 to coordinate a time to drop off your donations:

    • One pair of new girl’s rain boots (size: 3)

    • New children clothes (girl size: 12 in tops, 10 in pants; boy size: 4 in tops and pants)

    • New Sonic-themed toys (Examples: Sonic Action Figures, Sonic Plush, Sonic Racer).

  5. Write a letter of encouragement to the family. You can mail your letter to Kingdom Causes Bellflower, ATTN: Margaret’s House Family, 16429 Bellflower Blvd., Bellflower, CA 90706.

Thank you for helping us care for this family!

Get to Know the Family

This family has been staying at Margaret’s House since the beginning of December and was first connected to Kingdom Causes Bellflower through the awesome Caring Connections support staff. They’re a resilient family, consisting of a grandfather and two grandchildren. Their case manager, Lilliana, characterizes the grandfather as a humble man full of gratitude and describes his grandchildren as sweet kids who always radiate joy. The oldest grandchild is headstrong and sure of herself while her younger brother is funny and, according to Lilliana, would make a great talk-show host. Our staff has very much enjoyed getting to know the family and admire the grandfather’s dedication in working towards sustainable housing with the support of our team.
